Following the impressive city development project

De Kien is a city district in Kortrijk located on the banks of the Leie River. It is an example of a carefully planned metamorphosis of a post-industrial location and the migration of city life towards waterside areas. It is one of twelve locations which, according to the city council’s zoning plans, will form a fully developed area together. The new district will consist of residential buildings, green areas, squares and a footbridge connecting the waterfront with the Buda island. The creators wanted to use the potential of this area and design the perfect place to go for a walk, rest and spend time with family and friends.

Welcome to Eeklo, a city located in the heart of historic Flanders where the Wegelpark project will be realised. The Wegelpark development will offer perfect living conditions for a very diverse group of customers in 40 attractive and newly built apartments, 21 modern dwellings 4 multi-family homes. Each apartment will have an optimal layout, proper interior finishing, 1-3 bedrooms and a private patio or garden overlooking the park. The underground zone will consist of garages, parking spaces, storage spaces and places where you can safely park your car or leave your bike.

Innovative heating network in Eeklo

As part of a joint initiative of the Huyzentruyt group, Veolia and the Eeklo city council, a heating network was created in Wegelpark to reduce fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, contributing to a significant improvement in air quality. Houses and apartments within Wegelpark will use residual heat from, among others, a nearby swimming pool and sports facility, and in about five years also from a municipal waste incineration plant. Moreover, the initiative allows residents to completely give up the idea of gas heating and connection to the gas network. This means they won’t have to worry about fire hazards and the resulting high insurance rates.

This is the first project that involves this type of heating system. The Huyzentruyt group will make every effort to ensure that all future projects can be equipped with similar solutions.

A combination of historic values and modern achitecture

With this investment located near one of the most famous Belgian squares - St. Peter’s Square in Ghent – we strived to preserve its historical elements. We believe they highlight the style and unique character of the property as well as its surroundings. The refurbishment of this beautiful and historic building resulted in an original combination of authentic elements with contemporary architecture. In addition to preserving historical values and original architectural elements such as high ceilings, we also restored the façades to their original splendour. At the same time, we added a new section consisting of two parts, giving rise to the new Piazza San Pietro. The name refers to the lively local district that is home to a variety of cultural events as well as concerts by world artists. In the heart of the city we created 18 residential and 2 commercial properties with a view of the carefully renovated 19th-century monuments, the monumental Church of Our Lady and St. Peter’s Abbey.
